WE HAVE BIG NEWS! We are expanding to CHARLOTTE! We are constantly searching for ways to better serve our client base, and over the past few months we have looked at many building options, including warehouse with office, small warehouse with showroom, storefront in trendy area, etc. However, none of them seemed to fill all our needs. Then BOOM! The perfect solution presented itself... Slate Interiors! A multi-merchant venue representing over 60 merchants and artists, moving to a newly renovated space at 2025 Thrift Road from their former location in Plaza Midwood. Our expansion to this location at Slate will allow you to see our inventory Tuesday through Saturday 10am-5pm and Sundays 10am-2pm. As our business and our family grow, we are grateful for the support of the friendly and knowledgeable staff at Slate Interiors and Design. I feel confident that the additional hours of operation will add to the convenience of our new setup. I will continue to keep our website and Instagram up to date with current inventory and I am always available to answer questions by email or phone! We plan to keep our current showroom for overflow inventory and consultation for restoration customers. Our space is very convenient to our workshop! So if you are bringing something for restoration you will still come to 112 S Main St in Huntersville.
Please keep an eye on our social media - we will be posting when Slate will be officially open! The plan is August but we don't have an exact date yet. Thanks for following our business - we really appreciate you! - A

Hey! I wanted to share some of our favorite before & afters from the last little bit. I am trying to make a habit of getting before pictures to share! We love seeing the transformations & I know y'all do too! All of these were fully restored / refinished by us! Before & After American of Martinsville Walnut Dania Chest - the finish was very red before and had a ring on top. Look at that walnut grain after! Before & After on round MCM Coffee Table - was painted white and needed all of that removed to see what was underneath. Before & After on this pair of George Nelson Slat benches - needed joints sturdied, benches refinished and legs repainted. Before & After on this MCM Coffee Table with sliding doors - the veneer was peeling off on top and it had some water damage. We replaced the veneer on top and the doors didn't work well anymore so we fixed those too! Before & After on pair of Jack Cartwright for Founders Side Tables - they had some staining and bubbles in the veneer on top. Before & After on Peter Hvidt & Orla Molgaard-Nielsen Easy Chair - it was painted white YIKES! Before & After on this pair of Broyhill Sculptra Nightstands - water rings, stains, and other damage to the finish! We are open at the showroom Sat 12-3 and by appointment during the week!
Please follow us on insta @fosrestorationco & sign up for our weekly newsletter on our home page (if you don't already get it)! - A We wanted to say thanks to all of our wonderful customers and refinishing clients for being so great while we get adjusted to life with our new baby, Mila! The showroom is open 12-3 on Saturdays right now!
- A We set up an exhibit at The Charlotte Museum of History this year to kickoff the Mad About Modern Home Tour! We took most of the pieces to the museum before Baby Fos got here and went back to set up the week of the event - Mila helped (slept in her stroller). The exhibit featured an Eames Lounge Chair, 2 Herman Miller Fiberglass Shell Chairs, a Milo Baughman Recliner and Ottoman for Thayer Coggin, Lane Acclaim Step Side Tables, pair of Adrian Pearsall #916-CC Lounge Chair for Craft Associates, an Arthur Umanoff Wood and Iron Bench, a Milo Baughman for Thayer Coggin Desk Chair, Homecrest Lounge Patio Chair, Aluminum Group Desk Chair for Herman Miller Designed by Charles and Ray Eames, Burke Fiberglass Side Chair, and a Walnut Midcentury Modern Arm Chair in style of T.H. Robsjohn- Gibbings. Each of the pieces had signs on them that told what it was, who it was designed by, stage of restoration the piece was in and what we would do to complete the restoration here at Fos Restoration. "Like a lot of the homes that you see on the Mad About Modern home tour, when we restore furniture at Fos Restoration Co, pieces are 'torn down to the studs' and rebuilt. We wanted to showcase the innards of the furniture so that you can see the guts - the interior construction - of chairs and pieces that you usually can't see hidden under pretty fabric. When you peel back the layers, you expose how these revolutionary pieces are assembled. Even if the exterior is in rough shape, the bones of midcentury modern furniture almost always have more life left in them and we can restore the chair or table so it can be used for another 70 or 140 years. Preserving this furniture not only adds to the style of our homes, but it helps interrupt the cycle of consumption, lessens our impact on forests, and encourages preservation of our all our surroundings." These are a few of the fabulous homes featured on the tour! The Mad About Modern Home Tour is live now! The virtual guidebook including gorgeous photography and 360-degree virtual tours is available now through October 22! Get your tickets at www.madaboutmodern.com.

- A Where is the time going?! It's almost Halloween! COVID time is weird. The Mad About Modern home tour was last month! It looked a lot different this year - we went completely digital! We are on the MAM board that organizes the tour through the Charlotte Museum of History every year and are regular sponsors. We also staged one of the homes (Markway) for the 360 tour. Here are some pics from the day we staged. It looked fabulous!! Here are a few of my favorite pieces to pass through the showroom recently. . .
SO things are looking different around here - and pretty much everywhere else right now. COVID-19 has rocked small businesses everywhere and we are so glad and thankful to still be operating! Our new normal has been curbside / no-contact exchanges. Whether that is someone picking up a piece of inventory that they're purchasing, dropping off a restoration job, or picking one up - it's all going down outside. Nick and I are very grateful to our loyal customers / restoration clients for continuing to shop with us and their understanding our new [for now] policies (I try to make the situation as cute as possible with a little hand written thank you tag and a cheerful wave through the window lol.) Right now is the perfect time to get that restoration job done - while you're spending more time at home. Make that home beautiful & a place for you to be able to enjoy & relax! The same goes for buying that new piece of furniture that you've been wanting! If you see anything you would like to look at in person in our inventory we can arrange that for you with a no-contact meet-up.
I know things are weird right now but as my grandma says - This too shall pass. Y'all stay positive, safe, and kind! - A |
