These beautiful images all came from the same home in the Lansdowne neighborhood of Charlotte. Our client has been working on a remodel of his Midcentury Modern home. It is looking SO GOOD. Can I just say - their tile choices are ON POINT. We delivered a few pieces a couple weeks ago - the round frame was previously a table top that our client wanted to turn into a mirror frame. We lacquered it white and refinished the outer edge in a pretty walnut color. The Kipp Stewart Drexel Declaration chest was pre-ordered from our inventory & completely refinished! We added new hardware - the silver "T" handles are perfect! They had us refinish a chest white white lacquer and a rich walnut color for the top and legs. Their lighting everywhere is FAB. I can't wait to see everything when it is complete! We have been working on some pieces from our pre-order inventory! I know these pieces can look rough so i LOVE it when our clients are able to see the potential and trust that we can bring them back to life. Stay tuned for after pics! I LOVE a good before & after! This walnut chair was one of our pieces sold through inventory and the teak dresser was a customer owned piece that we completely refinished.

I hope everyone had a great Christmas! This year we kept it simple with decorations at the house! We stuck to the basics with our tree and decided to just put lights on it. It looked really simple & modern - I'm really into it. Our french bulldog, Chauncey, looked super handsome in his ugly Christmas sweater. Obviously. It may or may not have been a little tighter than last year! We get together with my parents every year to decorate their tree. Usually it ends up looking very traditional - colorful, handmade, furry ornaments - and as my mom says, "If you can still see green on the tree keep hanging ornaments!" HAHA! But this year we went with a neutral / metallic color scheme and it looked SO PRETTY! I have always loved Christmas time & at our house it is even more special because it's NICK'S BIRTHDAY! (Good for me because I'm gonna be honest with you - I'm not the best with dates BUT this one - I can remember...) We decorated a little at the store - kept it simple with a tiny metallic tree & green wreaths / garland. The 4th picture is my grandma, mom, aunt, and uncle. I LOVE THIS PICTURE SO MUCH! Their outfits are so good, the hair...and THAT TREE! I wish someone in the family still had it so I could steal it from them. We delivered this dining set just in time for our client's Christmas dinner. We refinished her drop leaf table (that belonged to her grandma) to match a hutch that we refinished a while back that's in the same room. She pre-ordered the Broyhill Brasilia dining chairs from our inventory to complete the set - they were completely refinished & their seats were reupholstered. These chairs are always stunning! They are some of our favorites. The teal upholstery that she picked really set them off! I would describe her house as eclectic - you can tell that she loves every piece in it & that it was purposefully put there. These pieces are available & ON SALE! Because HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
Let us know if we can help you with any furnishing / refinishing! -A Hey y'all! I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving - I just wanted to share a little about some of the projects we've been working on. Check out that before picture! This dresser was rough- but look at it shine now! On Thanksgiving we delivered a pair of chests that are being used as nightstands. They were completely refinished & our customer will be putting new hardware on them! They're planning on a really modern bar for each drawer. It's going to look fab. The hutch was completely refinished to a darker color to match the rest of the house! Our client's grandpa had the hutch made for his wife so it makes the piece really special. The wood and glass bookcase was delivered last week & fit perfectly in our customer's room. She is working one room at a time to add in mid century modern pieces with her more traditional furniture. This teak dining set is available now! It has been completely refinished & the seats have new linen-like gray upholstery. The butterfly leaf on the table is so cool - I love these things. It's so convenient to just fold it up when you don't need the leaf out - (and there is a really cute little silver handle under to assist in folding).
-A I hope everyone has had a great week so far! We recently refinished some parts of a piano that were water damaged. This was a first for us - we normally stick to furniture! They brought in the pieces for us to work on so we didn't have to transport the entire piano (we wouldn't want to risk damaging it - too many working parts & HEAVY)! They looked fantastic after Nick did his magic! This client home is in Cornelius, NC and is absolutely stunning! We are helping them restore pieces & find new (old) ones to fit perfectly in their home! I love the colors they used on the outside of the house and the modern landscaping! Rugs - all shapes and colors! Great to add a pop of color to your space - and really good Christmas gifts ;) Recently I have seen a lot of runners being used in kitchens and I am LOVING it.
Next week is Thanksgiving! Enjoy your family & friends! Be thankful! Get your belly ready for lots of food (it's probably a good idea to start training now... just saying)! -A So many beautiful pieces! Try not to drool on yourself . . . These babies were both picked up on Saturday by their owners! The Lane Acclaim surfboard coffee table was fully refinished and LOOK AT IT - SO GOOD! The Conant Ball dresser just needed a few coats of clear and it is shinin'! Check out these before pictures! WOWZA! This bar's transformation is amazing. I'm just going to leave it at that because I don't have words for the amazing-ness. Check out that first pic - this is such a good before & after! I love seeing pieces refinished to their full potential - although this 8 drawer dresser didn't look like much before - it sure is looking great after! It had a formica top so we lacquered it white to make it pop! The color of the refinished walnut is drool-worthy! These pieces are going to the same home! The newly refinished & white lacquered nightstands look so classy & the Brasilia dresser is on FIRE!
I hope y'all have a great week! Let us know if there are any projects you need our help with - or if you are looking for specific pieces (we will keep our eye out)! -A WHERE THE HECK HAVE I BEEN? S O M U C H G O I N G O N . . . Check out all the beautiful stuff we have been working on! These pieces are available for purchase! We added new walnut legs to the walnut display cabinet and it is so good looking! It's the perfect piece to put your treasures in for everyone to see! The magnificent rosewood chair is newly refinished & has great new "eucalyptus" linen-like upholstery! The wood is crazy on this chair (more pics on our inventory page)! This dining set was delivered to our customer in New York. It looks so great already - and they are still working on their room! New wallpaper and drapes will be installed soon - I can't wait to see updated pics! We use BGX Courier Services (they are top notch - seriously) - we don't trust anyone with our pieces like these guys. Their wrapping is A++++ and they're great to work with! This wood frame lounge chair's arm was completely broken in half. It was the work of our client's bad movers to their new house. Nick repaired the break and refinished the top of both arms. When our client got to the store to pick it up he asked me which arm was broken because he couldn't see where the break was - and I wasn't able to tell him (until I looked at his work order & before pics)! If that tells you anything about how good it looked HAHA! LOVE IT! This Broyhill Brasilia dresser is also available - and fabulously refinished of course! These pictures are in the workshop - I can't wait to take pretty styled pictures of it this weekend! YAY! SO GOOD!
I hope y'all have had a good week so far! Come visit us on Sat (open 10-3)! -A We've been busy making things beautiful for client owned pieces & adding new pieces to our inventory! Check this out... These Lane Acclaim pieces were fully refinished & the grain on them is amazing! The round coffee table sold quickly to a customer that happened to see it in the store while purchasing another item! Nice! The side tables are still available as of today! Scoop them up - you know they would look fabulous in your living room. We refinished these end tables for a client. I love these tables. They are simple but their X bases add a little funk. The first 2 pictures are a table that was delivered back to it's home with a refinished top! It isn't midcentury modern but I still think it was a really cool piece & worked perfectly in their home! The teak table on the right was shipped to NY for a customer. It was purchased from our inventory - had a really convenient butterfly leaf and was in amazing original condition! This chest was GLOWING after it's refinish. It was for some of our first clients - they are building their dream house on the water so have been collecting pieces that they love! We can't wait to help them with more pieces!
We would love to help you refinish your pieces or find the perfect new (old) pieces for your space! Contact us and let us know what you need! -A This year we had the pleasure of being on the committee for the MAM (Mad About Modern) Mid Century Modern Home Tour (09/09/17)! We worked with a great group of people to plan and met so many new people through the whole experience! We also worked with a few of the designers in the Designer Showcase Home and they borrowed some pieces from us for their rooms in the home! Everything looked so fabulous! I took pictures of my favorite areas in each home on the tour! The first 2 pictures were at 2236 Ferncliff Road - the kitchen had the original cabinets from 1955. They are amazing and the owners updated the whole look a little (without taking away the existing tasteful charm) by adding a really trendy backsplash (LOVE)! Their downstairs bathroom was SO GOOD. All the textures - exposed brick (which was featured throughout their house and it was amazing), the wood vanity & contrasting countertop, and the marble shower tile... SWOON! The last 2 pictures are from 6508 Trenton Place - you KNOW we were loving the furnishings in these 2 rooms. That teak sideboard in the dining room is everything & the colorful rug really made everything pop! The kitchen had a pedestal table with 4 Eames shell chairs on eiffel bases (we have a few of these that will be making their debut in our inventory soon)! I love how they mixed the chair colors! These pictures were from 6827 Folger Drive. I loved the rectangular trellis on the front of the house! They had some really good chairs too - this Selig "Z chair" & Eames lounge chair are staples of MCM style! The last picture is information on the home - classified as an "Echo Research Home". Our favorite house on the tour was 3517 Johnny Cake Lane. The inside of the house was amazing - you could tell that the owners really had a love for mid century modern furniture (we completely related to that)! Their stairs were walnut and just floated to the next floor (I would TOTALLY mess my clumsy self up on them... too much of a hazard for me personally but I really appreciate them haha). THE KITCHEN was round and fabulous. It was just a home run.
We had so much fun planning with the MAM committee, being part of the designer showcase home, and touring the homes! We are definitely looking forward to the next tour! We will keep you updated with details as we know them. -A We worked in the store to rearrange and make it easier for our customers to see all of the beautiful pieces that have been refinished / are in line to get some Fos magic (SO cheesy I KNOW but I love it)! The pieces that are stacked have not been worked on - but it was work getting them stacked. If you saw me you would wonder how the heck I do it. . . it's girl power. (Nick hears this a lot - "who's gonna help you move this?!" Me. I can do it. WHAT?!) Our goal is to have the front section (pictured above) of the store all refinished & the back to be more of a pre-order section. It's a work in progress! The workshop is full of exciting projects! Some have been pre-ordered from our (unfinished) inventory, a few are customer jobs, and others are inventory pieces that I can't wait to photograph & add to the website! I love seeing transformations in the workshop! Nick is such a perfectionist - he gives 110% with everything he does and it really shows in his work! The MAM Midcentury Modern home tour is coming up! Last week we attended an event at the Charlotte Museum of History , "Modernism: Why It Matters". It was so interesting! We heard from keynote speaker, Dr. Peter Wong and a panel of design experts. They spoke about midcentury modern architecture, lifestyle, and design.
If you haven't bought your ticket to the tour - click here - you DO NOT want to miss it! (AND we will be closed this Saturday 09.09.17 because we will be rocking it at the home tour ^. If you want to schedule an appointment at the store this week - or anytime - give me a call and we will set it up!) -A This past week flew by - our weekly wrap up is coming a little late . . . We started last week like many other people - watching the Eclipse. At least our little watching station at the workshop was amazing. The shadows were pretty cool! This Lane Acclaim boomerang coffee table was refinished and is available for purchase! It was pretty rough when we got it but you would never know that now! We love the dovetails on Lane Acclaim pieces and have worked on / had a lot in our inventory - BUT we have never seen this boomerang table in person. It is AMAZING! We found these Kipp Stewart for Directional & they didn't last long before they were scooped up! Their fragile cane backs were in such great shape - they're survivors. They must not have been in a house with kids poking their arms through them (we've seen it happen... we once delivered a coffee table to a home and their kid immediately started using it as a "surfboard". That's fine. Do ya thing little one.) This amazing rug was packed up to go to it's new home in Columbia SC! I love packing rugs to be shipped - I just think they look really cute in their boxes all tied up and ready to go. We have a lot of cool inventory available for purchase! Check it out!
I hope you have a great week & thank you for reading! -A |
