We love seeing our pieces in their new homes! I want to share some of my favorites from recently and a few before & afters. This teak wall unit is looking good in it's new home - the record storage was a huge draw for them! (pic 1 in our showroom & pic 2 in it's new home) I loved this dining set so much! It is the ideal breakfast table - so simple and modern! Look at it being perfect in it's new home! This walnut credenza didn't last long in our showroom! I didn't even have a chance to post it on social media before it was scooped up! Our customer is using it to store his bourbon and cigars. How cool does that look?! When we first saw our customer's walnut and lucite coffee table base it had a huge crack in the top piece of walnut and was a darker brown. We refinished and repaired it and the grain really pops now! In it's new home with it's top and that rug - OOH WEE that looks good! This is such a drastic before and after! It is one of my favorite client pieces we have done! It needed a ton of repairs - the panels of mahogany were separating completely on the sides. Nick fixed it right up and completely refinished it! Look at those legs! This teak bar was so cool! Like a transformer! HELLOOOO Pearsall! This chair is so amazing and we just happened to have this Dux ottoman that the walnut looked perfect together! They didn't stick around long - will be heading to their new home in Tennessee soon! Before / After on Walnut floating chest Before / After on Franklin Shockey dresser From plaid to FAB! Our clients in NYC chose a really cool faux sherpa for this Pair of Wood Frame Lounge Chairs by Guy Rogers and it looked so good with the walnut frames! SWOON!

Click here to visit their website for tickets and more info https://www.madaboutmodern.com/ - A These are a few of the pieces we have worked on and have sold in the last few weeks! They were all refinished by Nick - and of course looked fabulous! The Jack Cartwright credenza's picture (2nd picture) was also styled by Nick - complete with Boba Fett. The Lane Acclaim "snack table" (3rd picture) was the cutest thing I have ever seen (and that Monstera is the most perfect plant I have ever owned)! These are all pics of the showroom recently - it is always changing - pieces leaving and coming in constantly keeps it looking fresh! The dresser and chest were both refinished with formica tops and looked great! Their lines are so simple and perfect - they went to different homes even though they matched but stand great on their own! The acrylic coffee table is really cool - it's a little different than the pieces we normally get but I just loved it so much when we saw it (seriously if it fit in our living room it would be at the house)! It is still available so scoop it up! THIS SLAT BENCH - completely solid and refinished! Y'ALL please look at these details. I am drooling! A slat bench is the perfect piece for an entry way or coffee table (just throw a tray on the top with some coasters and you are golden) - even at the end of your bed! Possibilities are endless! This teak beast sold as soon as we listed it! Nick completely refinished it & it had a plinth base that has some damage so we cut it off and added new legs. It gave it a more modern look! The hardware on this thing was amazing! Check out that before picture (#1) of this Hooker desk! It looks amazing after Nick refinished it! This Eames Soft Pad chair is the most comfortable desk chair I have ever sat in. Seriously.
This walnut desk was painted when we found it! You never know what you will find under the paint! Look at that finished front on the desk YUM! I hope you have a great 4th of July! We actually have a little sale going on right now - check it out (click inventory tab)! - A This Lane Brutalist coffee table was really rough when we first got it! It was a really muddy brown color and had lots of scrapes and scratches. Nick completely refinished the whole table and it looks beautiful! Look at these fantastic before and after pictures! This pair of maple Thonet chairs was in BAD shape - check out the grunge in those before pics! They really glow after Nick refinished them. This credenza got new walnut veneer on it's top and a full refinish - Nick did amazing (as usual) matching the color of the new veneer with the old (it tends to color differently because of age). THIS beautiful beast - those drawers! Paul McCobb for Calvin Furniture Irwin Collection - this baby is heading to NYC! When we found this piece it looked like someone attempted to refinish it at some point - there were a lot of burns in the veneer so we re-veneered the top, sides and doors. Show stopper!
I hope everyone has a great week! - A I hope everyone is having a good week so far! It's Friday Jr. - you almost made it! We are always moving pieces around in the showroom - pieces are constantly coming in and moving out so that keeps it looking fresh! I wanted to share a some pictures from recent re-arranges! Last week we delivered this fully refinished Conant Ball dining set to it's beautiful modern home! I had to share these - their house was amazing & made for perfect pictures! The first picture is a before of one of the chairs. We went with a natural finish so it would pop with the dark concrete floor and the light wood. It was so beautiful - the customers loved it & we did too!
- A Happy April! We have been working on all sorts of good pieces - I wanted to share a few of my favorites from the past few weeks... This sculptural walnut wardrobe was completely refinished and needed some repairs done to the legs and the door hinges. Luckily this baby comes apart for moving around - because it's huge. The wood grain and details on this piece after Nick was done with it were just outrageous! This beautiful tension pole lamp was definitely a statement piece! And also huge. Check out the Before (Black) & After on this stunner! Someone painted this scissor style wood lounge black at some point - I am really glad we got to bring it back to life. This chair is still available as of now - check out the inventory page for details (pricing includes strapping for seat and new cushions in your choice of in-store upholstery fabric)! We love a good display cabinet! The black piece was lacquered with refinished wood details and is now in it's new home! LOVE! The walnut display case is available as of now - check the inventory tab for details! They are such cool pieces to add height to a room and have a place to actually display your cool pieces (instead of stacking them in your kitchen cabinets where you never see them)! THIS! We found this amazing sectional at a local estate sale and thought it was super cool! It wasn't until we picked it up and looked under that we found it was made by Craft Associates! EEK! We were super excited! It was very comfy and really one of those pieces that Nick and I tried to think how we could re-arrange our living area to fit - no such luck! We sold it as found (instead of reupholstering - which it will definitely need before being used) because it is such a large piece and will be the main focal point of whatever room it ends up in. This allows the buyer to choose upholstery fabric and work with the upholsterer directly.
We have lots of fabulous pieces coming soon! I hope you all have a great, productive week! - A This Z Chair designed by Poul Jensen for Selig deserves it's own post! There have been a lot of reproductions of this beauty but none compare. As soon as we found it we called one of our clients that we have worked with on many other pieces. He was looking for one of these for years - so glad we were able to find and restore this one for him! These are before pictures. It needed it's joints tightened, a full refinish, new straps, and new cushions. Oh hey! Talk about a glow-up! Nick oiled the teak wood - as it would have been originally. I love the fabric that our client chose - it gave you that vintage vibe while remaining current and modern.
We made a special delivery to our client because he just happens to live right around the corner from the showroom. He was so excited! He moved the room around so it had the perfect spot (as it should)! It makes us so happy to see our people happy! Hope y'all have a great week - I think it's supposed to rain a lot (ew). Think sunshine-y thoughts - this ain't Seattle! - A We hope 2019 is being good to y'all so far! January was a mixture of me being glued to the sofa trying to fight off an awful cold - and running around like a chicken with my head cut off trying to catch up (from being sick)! I wanted to share a few of our favorite pieces / transformations from the last few months! This Drexel Today's Living bedroom set Designed by Milo Baughman was amazing! We usually price things separately (you never know what our people need) - so we didn't know if this set would stay together. Luckily this one did! I snapped a few pictures of our white glove shipper's impressive wrapping skills! They both just happened to be going west! The Broyhill table went to Oakland, CA and the teak bookcase went to El Cerrito, CA! BEFORE & AFTER Fos Magic - I love these! On the Paul McCobb desk - someone started to refinish it and realized they needed some help. I'm glad our client called us! We were so happy to bring it back to life. The Lane Acclaim table had a big water ring on it. Our client put a flower pot on top of it and didn't realize the water was getting to the table top. You would never know now! This bed was so beautiful after NIck refinished it. The color was just perfect and look at the light reflecting off the finish! YUM! BEFORE & AFTER on this Kent Coffey chest is impressive! The veneer detail on the front of the drawers is so good! Look at that difference! BEFORE & AFTER - We delivered this desk this morning! It was an amazing transformation! The grain was so much more prominent after the refinish and we cleaned up the original brass hardware. Our client saved it from an old mill that was closing. He had been looking for a desk this size (huge) for a while that had a walnut top. You can find similar desks pretty easily but they often have a formica top. Good find - good save!
I hope you have a great rest of your week! Tomorrow is hump day - you're half way there ;) ! - A Exciting new things happening over here! Of course our main focus is (and will continue to be) beautifully refinished mid century furniture - but we are adding a few smaller things to the mix . . . PLANTS! We have always had them in the showroom to add life and color to inventory pictures. But we wanted to add some to the showroom that are for sale! We have quite a few of these Cacti and Succulents in vintage glassware (I KNOW - SO CUTE) that are available for you to take home. They are really easy to take care of and have already been planted for you so no need to even buy dirt or a planter! We will also have a few mounted Staghorn Ferns! These plants are so cool and allow you to hang a live plant on your wall. HELLO! YES! We will be able to give you care instructions and everything for them when you come in to get your new friend. More lighting! We have found lots of new (old) lamps! Cool lighting in a home really adds so much to your decor and mid century lighting gets pretty funky - we are always up for a funky lamp. Good conversation pieces, ya know?! Hanging/mounted lights! These were all found on a recent picking trip and we are obsessed! The colorful one looks like rock candy up close (SO COOL)! We have a pair of the "eyeball" style on the end. They will all need to be rewired because 1- the wires are cut ... 2 - safety because 70 year old wiring is probably not a great idea. Custom paintings! If you are looking for a custom size / custom colors let us know! I would love to paint a custom piece for you. The first picture is a pair that I painted for a customer and we put a really thin gold wood frame around them. They were perfect! Custom yarn art! If you need a custom size / custom dye color I am totally down for that! I would love to help you! We have a few pieces in store - some skateboards, canvases, and yarn art - that are available, too! Vintage rugs! We have so many beautiful colors and sizes - they add a lot to a room and the fact that they are hand-woven blows my mind! I am working on a new way to display them in our store now and a better way to post them for everyone to see online! Stay tuned. . . Our showroom is always changing! We are working on new ways to display the "smalls" / plants that we are adding and picking new (old) furniture! Look at those shelves just waiting for treasure & that full trailer load! Be sure to let us know if there are pieces you are looking for - we have a wish list with specifics so we can let you know when we come across them! Come see us Sat 10-3 - we will have beautiful new inventory for you to see!
